THE NATIONAL ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM

Museum The N.A.M. is the largest in Greece and is considered to be one of the most important in the world because of its priceless exhibits. It was originally intended to display the findings from the 19th century archaeological excavations in Attica and other parts of the country, but gradually it became the main National Archaeological Museum, with additions of findings from every part of the Hellenic world. It is housed in an impressive, 19th century building in neo-classic style, initially designed by L. Lange and completed by Ernst Ziller. Its various, chronologically organized collections offer the visitor a modern and perfectly arranged display of the ancient Hellenic civilization, from the pre-historic to the classical and the more recent period.
